Disassembly


Use A two-speed drill on low (and remove the "rivet" head). (Gary Yandoli)

Drill rivets with a drill bit slightly larger than the outer perimeter of the rivet head.
Use jeweler's screwdrivers to pry tabs and
baseplate. (Steven Davis)

Removing Axles



Remove smaller crimp with a Dremel tool (abrasive wheel). ( Steven Davis)

Use jeweler's files to remove smaller crimp. (Steven Davis)

Stripping Paint


Use Zip Strip, Oven cleaner, Bleach, Charcoal starter, 409f or Fantastic. (Gary Yandoli)

Use NAPA spay can of strip and paint remover standard brush-on paint remover. Wash in warm soapy water. (Steven Davis)

Use Simple Green in industrial Strength. (Tom Larson)

Try Testor's airbrush thinner. (Steven Davis)

Finger nail polish remover- non acetone. (Steven Davis)

Auto Brake Fluid. (Tom Larson)

Use a one quart jar and fill it 3/4 full with your brake fluid. Wrap a small piece of wire around your model (so you can get it out later) and dunk overnight. (Mike Krenning)

Body work


Fill scratches and holes/gaps with automotive spot putty (Qualco), glazing putty or Devcon Metal Patch and Fill for larger holes. (Gary Yandoli)

For light to medium scratches spray with primer and wet sand down to bare metal. repeat if necessary. (Mike Krenning)

Painted Windows


Place windows in hot water heated in a microwave. (Gary Yandoli)

Once paint is softened in hot water, scrape with old credit card with rounded edge. (Steven Davis)

Scratched Windows


Use the small buffing wheel for the Dremel tool. Mix up a paste of baking soda and water and buff out the window , Finish of with a polishing compound. (Mike Krenning)

Painting Equipment


Harbor Freight's airbrush kit. (Gary Yandoli)

Badger basic kit with detachable bottles and adaptor to use compressed air from an automotive tire or air tank with auto tire valve stem. (Steven Davis)

Get a cheap airbrush kit off E-Bay With the small glass bottles (You need about 4 bottles). Try and stay away from the aerosol cans, that gets really expensive. I bought my airbrush and compressor off E-bay used and they work GREAT!. (Mike Krenning)

Reassembly


Use super glue or super glue gel and apply glue with a tooth pick. (Gary Yandoli)

Use JB Weld to form a small spot (slightly Raised) of epoxy where old rivet was, let set to a paste (just before drying), Then poke a dull pencil in the center to simulate rivet head. (Steven Davis)

Use hot glue, Especially for Yesteryear seats. (The Vicr)
