The Site Rules
If you do not feel these rules are acceptable, don't post!
Please remember the rules of conduct for this site: They are here to keep things civil and to allow collectors of ALL ages to enjoy this forum. We encourage families and younger members to participate!
Before you register, you should know that I require your real, full name, birthday, and a real email address to register. The birthday is important because children are not permitted to participate in the sales areas on this site without oversight from their parents. It also allows me to flag and stop the display of their public info should they place it out there in an unsafe manner. I simply legally must have your birthday.
Your email address and name are required. I need to know who to contact at an email address, and who is responsible for your postings. I send a confirmation email with your details of membership to the address requiring you to complete your registration by following the instructions in the email. Obviously, if you give a spurious email address, you will not get the email and after a time I will delete your registration. Later, if the regular "checks" that happen return a fictitious email address, or your email system starts returning a blocked notice, your registration will be deleted. I do not register to get through your spam blocker. If I get a response from a spam blocker, I shall delete your registration. (YOU contacted ME, and you need to ensure I can communicate with you.)
The software does not allow temporary or anonymous email addresses like hotmail, gmail, yahoo, and the like. These services use this to add our members to their lists to target advertising in return for their services. We do not cooperate with that. These emails have a distinct lack of "permanence" and are "throwaway" accounts that are untraceable. I ask that you use your real, root email address. If you do not have one, you are invited to contact me directly and I shall listen and consider this.Basically, we are all friends here. If you would object to telling your friends you real name and your real address/telephone number/email, then this place is probably not for you.
Any message that does not comply with these rules may be subject to deletion!
This messageboard is general discussion on ANY Matchbox subject, or Corgi / Husky, Majorette, etc. in the appropriate conferences. Off Topic discussion is intended to be held in the "Anything Goes!" forum. All posts must have some point to them and some value, and stupid or pointless postings will be deleted. Keep your politics to yourself. We are not discussing your hatred of the Bush Presidency or President Obama, bashing the French or the USA, or who is ruining Australia.
All anonymous postings may be deleted. (Indeed, we now do not allow anonymous postings at all!) These include postings where the writer is not a registered member of this site or not logged in. We encourage responsibility in postings.
There are to be no attacks on other collectors, members/moderators/administrators of this site, anyone buying or selling on eBay, Dealers, Mattel, or other brands or manufacturers of diecast. There is to be no spamming, trolling, flaming or other personal attacks. You are not permitted to post personally identifiable information per ebay's rules.
There is no profanity, or profanity substitutes, allowed on this message board. Adult-oriented postings are not desirable. This is a family oriented site, like it or not. The "Anything Goes!" forum is intended to be an area for the members to discuss news and other subjects that are not germane to the other forums. It is not a "free for all", and should be kept civil and "clean". This is not a soapbox. You cannot say whatever you like.
Swap / sell / trade ads are acceptable on all Matchbox and other diecast as appropriate to the placement in the "For Sale" areas. Posting of non-die cast items is prohibited. (Ephemera items are permitted and should be posted in the related "Flea Market" forum.) All "for sale" offerings shall include a stated price in the posting, and all "For Trade" offers must be accompanied with what you are willing to accept in a trade. Please note that this is a world-wide forum with people from all over the globe participating! For that reason, you are required to offer your items for sale to be shipped anywhere the world, where legal. (You cannot specify USA-only shipping, for instance.)
You may not sell toys for another person here. You may not act as an "agent" or commissioned sales person for another here. (collecting a percentage of the sold items.) They must also be toys which you hold in your possession.
Please answer any questions that are posed within your thread in a timely manner. Items posted at the MCCH Flea Markets shall not be offered simultaneously elsewhere and should be allowed a reasonable period of time to be viewed and for a response. (Five to seven days seems appropriate.) Nothing is more frustrating than reading after a day or so that the item is withdrawn or sold elsewhere.
Due to the popularity of these forums for hobbyist sellers, please limit yourself to TWO sales posts per week for listing your items for sale. Feel free to add items to your listing, but there are to be no more than two threads started by any one seller per 7 seven days.
Paypal: You may not require people to send as a "gift" any payments owed. (Doing so requires that the buyer gives up any recourse to solve disputes.)
Shipping and shipping times: If you require immediate payment, you are required to immediately ship the item(s). If you require three days for payment, you are required to ship in three days. Like for like; Got it? Postage cost should not be out-of-line with the service quoted. If you are quoting Priority Mail cost, yet providing First Class in a manky envelope, it probably is not appropriate.
Commercial posting of ads by businesses shall be placed within the "For Sale" areas. Businesses posting sales/show information must be registered members of this site and logged in. Businesses are permitted two (2) sales offering posting per calendar month placed within the "For Sale" forum pertaining to their subject. Dealer postings of a non-commercial intent are always welcome. If you are a business, your sales must be listed on THIS site, and not be taken to another site. Excess postings touting products will be deleted. Dealers should also host their photos on their own site, and not at the Community.
Advertising of eBay, for-profit collecting sites with sales intent, other businesses, or auctions is NOT permitted on this site. We already check out eBay if we are interested in purchasing through eBay. eBay ids are not to be posted. Posting of eBay, business, or other auction links is not appropriate in most cases for any reason, even if you are the seller on the site. To post a business or an eBay link, you must contact Mark C for approval prior to the post.
We do not encourage postings which are essentially to get members to go to another site to see a "for sale" item (or a remote sales site), an updated column or blog, or a tease to get us to go to another forum or site. We are not here to promote other sites. (There are partner/approved sites like "Tales of Toy Cars", Christian Falkensteiner's Matchbox Pages, Pat's Box Information, which are encouraged.) Postings of this type, and across multiple forums, will be removed unless Mark C approval is noted in advance. This is not to prevent members from showing off their latest improvements to their sites, but a general feeling that we would like to hear what you have to say here. There are to be no links to remote sales.
The Moderators and Administrators of each forum area "own" and are responsible for that forum. Their decision on acceptable posts and any deletion or editing is final. If they don't like it, it's toast. Administrator "Mark C" will never second guess them. Members will not be notified as to why a post was deleted. If you do find apost deleted, it probably was against the rules or is a subject that the Admin has decided to not permit.
All decisions made in the capacity of regulating the function of the board and its contents shall neither be questioned nor undermined in a public manner. Likewise, comments centered on "censorism" will be deleted.
BTTT Messages (Back To The Top) are not desired or needed here. The software automatically flags unread messages in order for each member logged into the software, and ensures that each member will have the notification of a new addition to the thread. BTTT messages thwart this feature of our site.
Repeat offenders will be banned and their membership and posting privileges denied.
If you are banned, you may not be sneaky and rejoin the site. We mean it, and you may not come back without first discussing it with Mark C. Should you actually be successful and rejoin, your membership privileges will be immediately revoked.
You may not have more than one membership.
Membership used for the purpose of gaining access to our membership information, or using the PM system for SPAMMING other members, is strictly prohibited.
It is the fluid character of the internet that Moderators may remove postings or threads at any time. We do not provide reasons for removal to those people that have posts removed. Should you have any questions regarding the removal of your posting or thread, please reread these rules carefully. We do NOT ever discuss removals in the forums. An attempt at doing so is an automatic ten days suspension of your account.
Photos displayed on this site are never to be hot linked on another site. We simply cannot afford to provide bandwidth for free to other sites. Also, all photos displayed here are the property of the photographer and this site. You must ask permission to use a photo somewhere else!
More Thoughts on Posting Guidelines and Other Info.....
Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we cannot actively and completely monitor the contents of, and are not responsible for, any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this site or any entity associated with this site. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by using the alert link that appears in each post. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.
You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this site, and it's functions to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you, is considered "fair use" or common knowledge, or owned by mboxcommunity.com
Although mboxcommunity.com moderators and administrators do not and cannot review every message posted, and is not responsible for the content of any of these messages, the moderators and administrators at mboxcommunity.com reserve the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless those that run the mboxcommunity.com site.

Many of us learn in grammar school about "free speech" and "freedom of expression", a concept stemming from the first amendment to the United States Constitution. Unfortunately, most people have never read the first amendment and fewer still understand how it applies to our rights. In a nutshell, the first amendment prohibits the US government from passing laws restricting our right to free speech. It does not restrict an organization or business from enacting and enforcing standards. We believe in freedom of expression, the first amendment, and all that it implies. However we are not providing the forum for that freedom. We have rules. They must be honored. If you can not accept it, please do not register or post.
mboxcommunity.com is a community of toy car collectors and enthusiasts. We have always had standards in the forum and we have a strong belief in the ability of forum members to "self-regulate" to stay within the bounds of those standards. Due to a limited number of volunteer staffing, we are sometimes lax in enforcing them. This should NOT be construed that we approve of a specific posting, or that we will not enforce this rule in the future. (It just means that we did not find the time to go deal with it or it got missed.) Still, we have a strong commitment to providing an environment that we consider professional and "family friendly" and we insist on adherence to our principles.
Please note that advertisements, (especially ebay auctions, etc.), chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on the mboxcommunity.com forum.
Unfortunately, determining which side of "the line" a given post falls is not always so simple. Forum moderators have the difficult task of making that judgment call. Hopefully they'll make the decision that is considered "correct" by 95% of the community, but they're human and they will occasionally make mistakes. If you feel that the moderators of a particular forum are making too many mistakes, please contact me ( Mark C ) with specific details. Do not post complaints, criticisms, or moderation questions on the forum. These posts will be deleted and no explanation will be given.
Our goal is to provide the best possible environment for most toy car enthusiasts. We want your visit to mboxcommunity.com forum to be rewarding and sincerely appreciate your participation and support of this site, as well as adherence to our Site Rules.
