This section deals with Matchbox Super GT models made from 1986 to 1991 in England and China.

The Super GTs were based on earlier Matchbox 1-75 Miniatures castings from the 1970s which had been simplified to eliminate interiors and working parts. The windows were opaque (in most cases black), and the baseplates were made of black plastic.

These models had numbers prefixed by "BR" (for "Budget Range") assigned to them, whereby each casting was assigned two numbers denoting two different livery styles. Both numbers were cast on the baseplates.

The Super GTs were the last Matchbox diecast models to be made in England. This explains the huge number of color and wheel variations to be found, and it makes this range an interesting part of Matchbox history.
