I've Mapped our trip and ready for the 2010 Gathering.....

Well, it's gonna take some time but we have officially mapped out our trip to the Gathering for 2010.

Well, it's offical that I have the time off, and mapped out our trip...... It's about 1800 miles one way from Bonnyville Alberta Canada to Albuquerque New Mexico USA...We are going to leave on the 16th of July and take our time going down and hope to arrive in Denver late on the 18th all going well. Then we will determine what we want to do but will arrive at the Gathering on the 22nd....

My wife I think has found a 10K run for Sunday morning so that will keep her busy while I spend some money... oops I mean spend some quality time with Matchbox collectors....

I am looking forward to meeting a lot of you that I have chatted with over the past 4-5 years. I have only ever have met one MCCH member and he turned out to be an A-1 guy....(Yes Randy you are a nice guy no matter what anyone else says..lol)

My only concern is the heat. Us Canucks WAY UP NORTH are not used to 100 degree temperatures..

P.S.-Kinda disappointed that Jim has stopped having a get together allowing people to view his awesome collection. Wondering if he can be bribed with something he doesn't have (and you know what it is) to get to see your collection LOL... Just joking Jim

Mapped ours also. About 1275 miles from Bowling Green, Kentucky. Will be leaving the 21st of July, to get there the evening of 22 July. Plan to leave there Monday, 26 July, and spend two nights in the Colorado Springs area, where I was stationed from 1985-1988, at Fort Carson. Then it is up to Custer, South Dakota, for a week, where we spent our honeymoon in 1980. It will be our 30th anniversary on 2 August. Yippie!!!

The weather is always perfect in NM at the time of the Gathering.
And to make you feel at home there is a big mountain just across from the Hotel that has snow at the top.
Also make plans to visit Tinker Town your daughter will love it.

Do not worry about the 100 degree temp. We rarely get to tripple digits. It will probably be about the same temp as you have at home minus the humidity. We are at 5200 feet elevation. In fact I think many remember one year we had a storm come in and it was in the fifties in July. I am sure you will have a great time. If you get in earlier, let me know as I would love to have you as guests one evening. I generally go to the Gathering on Thursday after work and stay through the weekend. If you are in Abq on Monday or tuesday, it will work. LMK.

Hope you have a safe and fun trip! My wife and I took our time going out last year, spent some time in KC, Denver adn Colorado Springs, even climbed to the top Pikes Peak with a fully packed Ford Expedition! It is well worth it, wish we could make it this year but bad timeing but we are going to diecast blast in August and I do plan to return to the gathering next year.
